Shipping Thatch Worldwide: How Ordering From the USA Works

We ship synthetic thatch structures worldwide from Frisco, Texas. Buyers outside the United States usually have the same three questions: how long, how much, and what happens at the border. Here is the whole process.
1. Specification and quote
Send the structure type and dimensions, the site location, and whether the project is residential or commercial. Location matters more than people expect: it sets the wind load requirement and often the fire specification. Commercial projects should ask for the documentation package at this stage, not later.
2. Deposit and production
Production begins on deposit. Lead time depends on the model, the quantity and whether anything is custom. Stock panel products move fastest. Custom structures with engineered frames take longer, and the engineering runs in parallel rather than after.
3. Crating
Thatch panels are light and bulky, which means freight is priced on volume more often than weight. Everything is crated or palletized to survive handling, and we label to your purchase order so a container arriving at a job site can be checked against the packing list without opening every crate.
4. Freight, in plain language
Domestic US: LTL freight for most orders, full truckload for large or multi-structure projects.
International LCL: your goods share a container. Lower cost, longer transit, more handling.
International FCL: a full container to you. Better economics above a certain volume, and less handling risk.
Air freight: available, and rarely sensible for a product priced by volume.
5. Freight terms, which decide who does what
EXW, ex works. You take the goods at our facility and arrange everything from there. Maximum control, maximum responsibility.
FOB port. We deliver to the departure port and handle export clearance. You take it from the vessel forward.
DDP, delivered duty paid. We handle it through to your door, including duties. Simplest for the buyer and priced accordingly.
Pick the term before you compare prices, because two quotes on different terms are not comparable numbers.
6. Customs and duties
Duties, taxes and import requirements are set by the destination country, not by us. Unless the order is DDP, plan on engaging a customs broker in your country. We supply the commercial invoice, packing list, product classification information and certificate of origin. A broker who has the paperwork in advance clears goods far faster than one seeing it on arrival day.
7. Receiving, and the one rule that protects you
Inspect on delivery, before you sign. Photograph the crates as they come off the truck, count against the packing list, and note any visible damage on the delivery receipt at that moment. A clean signature makes a freight damage claim very difficult afterward. This is the single most common way buyers lose money on international freight, and it takes ten minutes to avoid.
What to have ready on site
Access for the delivery vehicle, plus offloading equipment. Do not assume the driver has a lift gate.
Dry, covered storage if installation is not immediate.
The frame or base complete and cured before the panels arrive.
Your permit or approval in hand where required.
The model-specific installation guide read before the crate is opened.
